Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Introduction

There is little point in having a great looking website if you don't have any visitors! There are several different ways to attract visitors to your website:

  • Search engines e.g. Google but there are others!
  • Directories
  • Links from other websites
  • Traditional advertising

Typically you may expect to receive approximately 80% of your visitors (traffic) through search engines and Google currently accounts for the majority of internet searches. As such if you want your website to be found via a search engine then you need to undertake search engine optimsation (SEO). SEO is a very specialised field and involves many different factors including:

  1. Keyword research
  2. Using the keywords correctly within the website
  3. Structuring the web page code (HTML) correctly using the correct markup tags

Items 1 and 2 in the above list are very specialised areas of expertise especially writing the copy for the targets keywords. For this reason we tend to call in some experts in the field who have a proven track record. For example, one of our clients (Choice Dolls Houses) approached us about obtaining better Search Engine Results (SERPS) and we outsourced this activity. The result of this work is that our client has at least doubled their orders - a very happy customer which is what we like. You can see by performing a Google search for dolls houses that they are currently the second item 2 on page 1 - this being out 14,900,000 pages in the Google database.
