IPL primarily focus on Microsoft products & therefore we have a very strong background in Visual Basic / SQLServer. However we recognise the benefits of other languages especially Java.
Visual BasicIPL have been developing solutions using VB since version 3 was released & have seen it grow more powerful with each subsequent version. Increasingly we have been developing middle tier COM business objects & calling them from the presentation layer (either a VB desktop application or an ASP web interface).
C# / .NETHowever since the release of Microsoft .NET, IPL have decided to focus our programming on the new language of C# rather than VB.NET. The reasoning behind this is:
- C# has the most interfaces to the .NET framework of the .NET languages,
- VB.NET is so radically different to VB6 that it would be like learning a new language anyway,
- C# combines the raw power of C++ with the productivity of VB,
- C# is very similar to Java!
IPL therefore does all .NET development including ASP.NET using C#.
Open Source (Java / PHP)
IPL are not restricted to Microsoft technologies. We recognise the increasing importance of Java in enterprise development & actively promote it. We also use PHP for web development where applicable.
